Again, a long time since I last blogged but with a lot else happening
and dedicated blogs for my greater interests, this one doesn't necessarily
need the overload of updates it once had this time five years ago.
I may as well start by writing down what I'm able to remember as of
recent, and last night I watched out of curioisity ITV's biopic
on Cilla Black starring Sheridan Smith as the singing Scouser.
There's a generational interweave within my family sharing a
dislike for the entertainer from my Dad repeatedly moaning about
her BBC 1 series from the 70s where Lulu would seemingly be guesting
every week, to my overall indifference to Blind Date which I suppose
was the 80s and 90s answer to the X Factor, in that it gained lots
of viewers, yet every show was the bloody same each week.
As for the drama "Cilla" it kept my attention for the length of the episode
but the one bugbear was that visually, Sheridan Smith rather than
looking like Ms White, bore more a resemblance to Yvette Fielding
around the period she had left Blue Peter and was co-hosting ITV's
Saturday morning toon-fest "What's Up Doc?".

With that memory stuck in my grey matter, it was hard to associate
the character with Cilla, but then again, save for Most Haunted
Yvette was a more tolerable presenter, whilst growing up.
I need to consume a lot more television, last night especially helped
me forget that my day-to-day life at present, whilst not terrible,
has it's uncertainties here and there though gradually they seem
to be disappearing.
Though it's not just escaping to the word of a flat screen that proves
worthwhile, as last week I attended The Imaging Days in Holland,
the first even of it's kind devoted entirely to the geeky yet misunderstood
world of radio imaging.
A lot of the experts giving presentations were from the UK, but
it was the talks that explained why rather than how we do it
that got me with presentations from Slovenian advertising consultant
Lenja Faraguna, and American imaging producer Ryan Drean whose
respective presentations gave useful advice on how to progress
further in a radio career, beyond the technical side of things.
And when I say no-holds-barred...
In fact, a really good video highlights package has been posted
of the event, and definitely the perfect advert for potential delegates
to visit Haarlemm next year.
My next big radio event where I end up making a fool of myself
in front of the industry pros, will be the annual Radio Festival in Salford
next month, where I'm particularly looking forward to sessions from Iain Lee,
and an insight into the political interview from the masters of interrogation
John Humphrys and Nicky Campbell.
No time like the present however, and this weekend I'm lending
quite a hand to the arrivals weekend at CSR FM, welcoming the Freshers
and in my case producing the audio that will have them thinking
"I want to be part of this".
And inevitably they'll do a better job than me on the air as well.
It's all rather exciting.
