A lot's happened, I've bid adieu to Margate, returning south to Ramsgate,
albeit not the same house, but a much nicer flat in a less noisy area
en route to Pegwell.
Yet a month into settling in, itchy feet have made their mark and I have
headed home to Harrow, on my first London visit since March of this year.
Normally I spend the August Bank Holiday on coastal shores, with a visit
to North West London normally towards the end, though this time I'm spending
two nights in a country hotel in Old Redding, a halfway house between Harrow and
Watford, pretending it's 2007.
Though in 2007 I felt as if it was 1989 and that sort of perspective lead
me to being locked up in August that year.
No coincidence that the hotel itself is within a serene woodland, not too dissimilar
to the hospital I stayed in, only without the nurses, the mood softening drugs
(though "softening" and "completely messing up" are actually two different things)
and with responsibly drunken alcohol.
Yet it wasn't just me in such a nostalgic mood, as half of Twitter appeared to
be pretending it was October 1988 last night, with a live tweetalong to
"Remembrance Of The Daleks".
Just as well that I brought along a Facemask to match.
The other one, as seen below was a result of watching Gemma Hunt
in her virtual CBBC studio on BBC One whilst in hospital.
Though by the time I was let out, Gem had been ditched
in favour of a pretend office and a puppet cactus that in no doubt
was a coincidence, with the fact I kept waking up in the night
and screaming to be let out.
(And Mum, Dad, and Kate if your reading, for the 50th time,
no I don't want any plants in my new flat!)
The visit has just been an excuse to venture further on walking outings
and today I made a long awaited visit to Aldbury, a rather delightful village near Tring.
Though it's cultural connection as such, was being renamed Shillingbury
some 40 years ago in the ATV drama series "The Shillingbury Tales"
starring Bernard Cribbins as a clumsy tinker.
I also spotted the artefact below, what ought to be renamed "The Shillingbury Stocks"
A massive comedown may be inevitable what with the uncertainty
on future outings in the coming months.
Though on the plus side, anywhere's better than Ethelbert Terrace.
