"Sore Row"

Almost two weeks after moving to Ramsgate and I'm finding myself
more occupied than ever.

I made a visit back to Canterbury last weekend, mainly to see
a screening of "The Room" at the Gulbenkian, and dare I say
the crowds were a bit more chaotic than those at the London screenings.

Not least as the ushers were giving out plastic spoons to those
on entry, and some attendees even came dressed up as Tommy Wiseau.

Still good fun though and a lot more than could be said for my
cinema outing last night to see "Sunshine On Leith".

As much as I love the Proclaimers, I'm not sure if they're worthy
of a musical drama, or certainly not one that's depressing, lacking
originality or characters that are easy to warm to.

Some of the song interpretations were good, "Over And Done With"
was turned into a modern day "Oom Pah Pah" from "Oliver!"
(and a damn sight more listenable than the latter),

and Jane Horrocks did a fairly good job of the title song itself
from the Craig and Charlie's second album.

But overall, it's not one I shall be rushing out to buy on Blu-Ray.

I'm back in Canterbury again tomorrow for a CSR social evening,

and after some moonlighting in Folkestone and Herne Bay, I shall
be venturing north for my first full-on Radio Festival in Salford Quays.

Yes, I'll be present for the whole lot this year, including the Gala
Dinner on the Tuesday which features Lisa Stansfield as one of
the special guests.

Genuinely excited now, as that will be another one off my
list to see perform live after so many years.

Other talks I'm looking forward to in the Festival itself include
those from Jeremy Vine, Neil Fox, and one from Humpty Lawson
focusing on what is and isn't acceptable to say on the radio.

A no-holds barred event, yes.
