I can never get out of bed when I tell myself to.
But then again there are never any objectives to meet at this
time of the morning, no places to be going, that I need to be
present at or whatever.
One thing that's been sticking in my head for the last hour or
so was one of the callers playing Carpark Catchphrase on
The Chris Moyles Show, where her car horn sounded very similar
to the opening guitar riff from the Libertines' "Don't Look Back Into The Sun".
That's insanity in terms of me actually working that out.
Listen on iPlayer and you'll fully understand.
I'll head over to Tesco/M&S shortly, but the plan for today is to relive
a series which an 11 year old Declan Donelly failed to get the lead role for.
Geordie Racer, the Look and Read serial as broadcast on BBC 2
22 years ago has all the conventions of the well remembered schools
series with Wordy in between the story itself, the reading exercises,
and the synth lead theme tune as sung by the one and only Derek Griffiths.
I only found out about Declan's audition when reading him and Ant's
autobiography, but where's the fella who played
the lead role of Spuggy now?
The serial's also notable for an appearance by Kevin Whately who I'd
imagine around that time had only just started appearing as "Leewwwiiiiis!"
in Inspector Morse.
That sort of brings to mind John Nettles returning tonight in
Midsomer Murders, a series that as hard as I've tried I've ended up
falling asleep in front of.
It's weird getting it in my head that he's probably starred in that series
longer than Bergerac.
