Visiting The Wing For One Last Time In '12

Whenever I make a visit to the Folded Wing studios, I'm always a little timid,
rather melancholy and even the things that make me normally make me laugh
don't seem to improve things.

I guess that's natural though, and when I arrived at the Clerkenwell

Offices, Sandie and the team made me feel really welcome and
an even bigger surprise was that Karen was there too!

It meant I got to give her my Christmas present to her which was
a copy of the book "Gobbolino The Witches Cat" which I suppose
was my equivalent of Karen's favourite story "Jonathan Livingston Seagull"
which was the inspiration for the Folded Wing name.

It's basically about a cat born as a witch's cat, but desires to be
kitchen cat and tries many different roles to find what he really is.

But whilst the Folded Wing team have been big influences
throughout 2012, it's not always the way you'd expect as I played
them my audio revealing the Blam Jam Rotten Raspberry of 2012
which I first heard of after Macca was interviewed on Jamie
Cullum's Radio 2 show earlier this year.

Thankfully, they saw the funny side as it's certainly not meant
to be taken seriously.

It was good to see Eliza, Andrea and John once again but unfortunately
for the second time in a row (well third if you count Manchester)
researcher Jim Lister was absent again as he was on another of his
many outings.

We'll cross paths again in 2013 for certain and I'm very grateful
for Sandie for taking me for coffee and a chocolate brownie.

The visit resulted in me being unable to stop smiling, to the point
that I was almost singing to the Christmas songs being played
in the Oxford Street HMV whilst trying to find my Dad's Xmas present.

One of them being a version of "Jingle Bells" by Smokey Robinson
a carol I've never really been that fond of, but this rendition
is certainly more listenable than most others.

I didn't actually find the record I was looking for however which
proves that it's not because the Canterbury branch of HMV
lacks a wide range of discs, but HMV as a whole is rubbish.

That said I did manage to spot a few other best buys of 2012
in there;

Not to mention last year's recipient of the Rotten Raspberry.

At around 7:30pm I made my way to the Red Lion pub
near Regent's Street for the CMP Reunion where amongst
those in attendance were Stedders, Joe Upton, and Craig Hallam

who I've not seen for ages.

It was also good to see lecturer Adam Hodgkins show up,

and it's an exciting time for him as he's leaving as a full
time lecturer to work on his PHD about online movie databases
such as Lovefilm and Netflix.

The guy's going to do good for certain.

I didn't get up to much drinking however, which may have been
the best thing, and today will certainly be a more laid back one
ahead of the booze crawling in London tomorrow, and the
boogieing down in Canvey Island later on.

This may be the busiest and best December I've had.
