One of my lifelong obsessions has been the Warner Brothers cartoons,
and the one that seems to resemble my life at the moment is
"Good Night Elmer".
Yes, it may not be one of the best from the Merrie Melodies stable
but this early Disney-esque short directed by Chuck Jones is reminiscent
of my struggles to sleep I've been having every other night over the
last month.
Only that instead of trying to extinguish a candle flame, I'm having problems
getting rid of racing thoughts inside my head over issues that others may not
think anything of at all, even if they are involved.
It normally ends up with me resorting to use the TuneIn Radio app
on my smartphone to find a chilled electronica or soul station to
distract me from such thoughts.
Only that by the time I've finally got close to falling asleep I end up seeing this sight from my bed which at 5am in the morning has me welling up for
the sake of it.
I think it's a sweet image as a whole.
Things perked up a bit later this morning when I went over to an elderly charity in Canterbury where hopefully in July, I'll be helping them out as one
of their I.T. assistants.
The meet-up seemed to go well, and it will keep me busy once a
week and hopefully more if other helpers are unavailable.
I've managed to turn negatives into positives elsewhere as now
that the "Tuppence And The Gang" Canterbury gig for July has
been cancelled, it means I can attend Swing Out Sister who
are performing at the Islington Assembly Halls on the same night.
I haven't seen Corrine and the musicians since 2005, and it
is guaranteed to be a very special night as SOS don't make
many visits to the big city.
So in the long term, it's a pretty stable July.
