"movies for the ears" and if there's one recommendation,
do not listen if you're driving.
Normally a warning of that sort would be reserved for a radio
comedy programme or podcast, but the brilliantly positioned
dialogue and background ambience is enough to give even the
bravest of listeners the chills in this aural horror story involving
two explorers.
The second part cannot come soon enough, as part
of a very unique set of podcasts to have been emerged
in the last few months.
Pump Up The Volume - BBC Radio 4, 07.06.12
Nowadays an amazing achievement is normally accompanied
by an amazing soundtrack.
This documentary focuses on the combination of music and sport
and the role it plays on athletes as motivation fuel during training.
What the blurb for the documentary describes as "a legal drug".
Most importantly, the difference it can make to a player's enthusiasm
and nerves before a game, which has you wondering if the England football team even listen to music at all during an international tournament
if recent performances are anything to go by.
If it works for Brazil, then maybe Hodgson could take a hint.
Some good interviewees in this, and good interchanging between
each one ensuring a good flow, although this being a Radio 4
documentary it's worth noting we don't hear an actual song
being played until about 5 minutes in.
That said, it's still a really fitting and topical subject
designed for audio.
