This has to be not just the funniest, but thought provoking viral as
of recent times, a specially written song by Isabel Fay and Clever Pie
targeting the ever increasing intrusion of internet bullies.
Thank You Hater! - Isabel Fay
A burlesque/music-hall inspired ditty made to ridicule those who
have too much time on their hands, with additional contributions
from some of the finest comedians and purveyors of art.
But it had me thinking afterwards that I've been one of those
"haters" that the song is targeting for far too long.
Further than the days of Youtube in fact, when I used to post
petty negative comments on radio discussion forums when
I was upset with a station being taken over by a bigger group.
It still prevails today but I've learned that the best thing
is not to go looking for negativity in the first place.
As well as finally realising that using Twitter or any social networking sites
to attack anyone, whether they're on television, on radio, in stand-up,
or personal acquaintance, cannot go on.
They're only human too, they have feelings, and I'll inevitably end up being more hurt and paranoid about it all than them in the long run.
I'm actually very tempted to play the song itself on my radio show
although some of the words may have to be bleeped.
Simply superb.
