Another Sunday, another radio show and with Freshers arriving
fast on campus it was pretty busy.
The stand out track this week had to be a "bhangra" cover of
"Take Five" as performed by the Sachal Studio Orchestra
off an LP that contains similarly styled interpretations of
classic jazz tracks including "The Girl From Ipanema"
and a unique arrangement of the old fusion favourite "Mountain Dance"
originally by Dave Grusin.
I'll be playing more from that when the show returns from
a two week break as next Sunday will be Jingle Day 7,
making it's far too long awaited return to London.
If anything I'm hoping it can give the Jinglemad website a kick up the
bum as it's become a rather nasty place with comments of which
some have said are "scaring away" visitors.
That's a strong adjective, but many figures from the jingle companies
themselves have felt the same and in some cases have been pretty
angry as well, which they have every right to be.
Thankfully that sort of attitude is nowhere to be seen at a jingle meet
up, mainly because such progtagonists who cause trouble are too scared
themselves to make their presence.
It will be good fun and nice to meet some new attendees too.
The day before I'm heading over to Brighton to meet up with
Danielle who is studying for a diploma in multimedia journalism.
I haven't seen her since graduation so it will be good to find out
how she has been getting on.
And to visit Brighton again is a treat within itself, so the weekend
coming will definitely be one worth anticipating.
