The Listening List - W/E 19.05.12

Let Me Into The Music - BBC Radio 1

A documentary that like many had me raging because

it fell into the category of "why didn't I think of that idea?".

In other words I enjoyed this investigation into how

gig promoters and organisers go into great effort to make sure
disabled people are able to enjoy going to gigs and concerts
equally.

Not all venues however have managed to adapt, and also taken
into account are the experiences of those who have had problems
with both getting into and coming out of clubs, and the stigma
attached to disability.

But overall the documentary gives a relatively positive outlook
that everyone regardless of mental or physical disorder is
able to share the experience of an enjoyable night out.

So Wrong It's Right - BBC Radio 4, 17.05.12

Charlie Brooker's panel game makes a welcome return to Radio 4,

for a third series of contestants competing to get the most
wrong answers to Brooker's questions.

The first episode gets things off to a strong start with

notable moments including Lee Mack's unfortunate experience
with a blind guide dog, and Susan Calman's concept album for cats.

Which is more of an indication that I may have a dangerous

obsession with animal based humour.

Brooker's snide wit is everpresent blending in well within the

theme of "wrongness", in addition to the equally irreverent
round introductions, picking on deserving targets
whilst only just avoiding being too coarse.

Although most comedy in the Radio 4 6:30pm slot actually

manages to get away with more risque humour than a
comedy panel show broadcast on BBC 1.

Which is odd considering it was an incident on radio that started
the compliance craze at the BBC some four years ago.
