Millennium Buggeration

Comedian Rufus Hound gave a witty twist on the many nostalgia
programmes infesting telly, by telling it like it is (or was) and
not being afraid to tackle any taboos.

Hence "My Funniest Year" as broadcast last night where it
looked back just 10 years ago to the events of 2000
proving that time really has gone very fast since then.

Quite a lot of my favourite comedy targets including John Leslie,
Gary Glitter and Danny Dyer were given their fair share of
ribbing in a near-the-knuckle manner.

Also covered were the first ever Big Brother and a look back
at some of the more notorious housemates over the last
10 years.
Even the late Jade Goody didn't escape a ribbing, with Hound
referring to her as "The People's Racist".

And if anyone is thinking Big Brother will benefit by
moving to Channel 5, three words; Justin Lee Collins.

With his extensive knowledge of television, Hound also
gave his take on some of the lesser successful reality
shows to pop up later on in the decade, such as ITV2's "The Club"
notorious for the clip of the very drunk in denial Sam Fox,
and Channel 5's "The Farm" from 2004 where Rebecca Loos
was clearly seen beating off a pig.

Hopefully there will be more retrospectives, combining
stand up with nostalgia in the not too distant future.
