Straight after last night's radio show I headed all the way up to Woody's
where by the time of my arrival, the pub quiz was in full flow.
A fair few station members were present, notably Mel who was reeling from
the success of Friday's election coverage, of which she has every right to.
Mel has written her own blog about it which can be read here.
Surprisingly I didn't have anything to drink last night.
You could be forgiven I've given up booze for lent, but coincidentally,
by the time my Dunelm placement is up I will have hopefully cleared
off my credit card debt which is the main reason I was only drinking water
last night.
It paid off as well as I managed to beat my alarm yet again this morning
although not at a ridiculous hour like 3am. Having got back in at midnight
may have helped.
So, back at Dunelm this morning and my main aim is to return a book
which a colleague lent to me called Fine Tune Your Brain.
I appreciate it was a good gesture after mentioning to him the books
I had been reading on self-help, but this one made me feel depressed.
Although to be fair, it was written in 1988.
I'm starting to become scared of relics from the past, and nostalgia
especially. Well I always have been, but now I've reached the
point where I genuinely want to become a radio producer,
and I have to stop nostalgia from being too heavy an influence.
It ruins you, it makes you bitter, and you start worrying all the time.
I may treat myself at the end of this week to another book purchase
possibly opting for "The Elephant And The Twig".
Having read Geoff Thompson's "Live Your Dreams" twice, it would
be interesting to find out what advice is on offer in the prequel,
if you can call it that.
