And I Thought Noel Was The Sensible Gallagher...

If Steven McIntosh and Caroline Opacic are reading this blog post,
I now know how you felt when I overran with my show into yours by 6 minutes
when Smoke Radio did it's Sport Relief broadcast some four years ago.

That's because a certain Mancunian twat did exactly the same earlier
tonight on BBC Radio 2, when Noel Gallagher's "High Shitting Birds"
decided to indulge in an encore with a performance of the most irritating
song from Noel's former band "Don't Look Back In Anger".

Noel's audience seemed to be in the same league of obnoxious pricks,
as they started booing when presenter Jo Whiley promoted the artist
performing on next week's In Concert, that being James Morrison.

The reason I found it annoying was because it meant both Sounds Of
The 20th Century, and the first edition of Gloria Estefan's show were running
on a 6 minute delay.

Adding insult to injury was that one of the trailers during Gloria's show
was for a forthcoming In Concert.

Oh fuck off Whiley.

Anyway, enough moaning, Gloria's first show got off to a promising
start with music from Perez Prado, Roberto Torres, Los Panchos, and
a fantastic latin rap track from Orishas called "A Lo Cubano".

Really looking forward to hearing what else will be on offer over the
next seven weeks, and I'll certainly be listening as it follows on from
the continuing series of tomes from Trevor Dann and co.

Tonight's took us back to 1981 with tunes from Spandau Ballet,
Adam & The Ants, Ultravox and the Specials, accompanying audio
of news footage including the riots, and the royal wedding of
a future king.

Not too different from 2011 frankly, although today, people can
travel on trains safe in the knowledge that Jimmy Savile isn't on them.

Seriously though, the broadcaster/fundraiser is the subject of a programme
on Radio 4 tomorrow presented by Trevor Dann's former partner in crime
Matthew Bannister, that being Last Word.

I'm pretty certain that the obiturary read out on the programme will in
no means be in the vein of this, courtesy of T. Stokes at The Truth Seeker.
