A Bit Too Merry?

A CSR social was in order of tonight's proceedings, this time at Mungo's
bar on the University of Kent campus.

We had a visit from an old stalwart of the station, that being
Andrew Venning former head of music and station manager, who's
popped back to Canterbury to attend a mate's graduation.

Also present was another ex-head of music Peter, who finally
got round to uploading the video highlights of our Lounge On The Farm
outside broadcast
, which I'll go as far as saying is the best O/B I have
ever participated in.

Not least for James Waters' constant playing of old Radio 1 jingles,
namely the Phillip Schofield namecheck.

I stuck around until about 9, when the resident DJ started spinning
the disks at perhaps too loud a volume for my liking.

There was a really good turnout of current members as well,
a cause for plenty of drunken behaviour not least from head of
speech Daryl, and new Friday breakfast show host Dan who
insisted on endless refrains of "Wherever You May Go" by The Calling,
and "Step Into Christmas" by Elton John.

Annoying as it was, I joked that it sounded like a station music demonstrator
performed live, and as soon as I got home, I "realised" the concept and
the result can be heard below.

Yes it is rather embarrassing, not least because it breaks the
many a rule of demonstrators by changing the backbeat without warning,
and including two songs by the same artist.

I very much doubt that will actually get played on air considering
the "in-jokey" nature of it all.

Early start tomorrow, heading to South London for Martin Perret's
leaving do.

I'm pretty certain there will be a few new faces present, but as long
as it's raucous enough, I should have a good time.
