Entertainment earlier today was provided by Rich Hall's recent BBC Four
documentary Continental Drifters, a personal probe into the evolution
of the road trip movie.
Anyone who enjoyed the Dirty South one-off from last year won't
be disappointed as Hall's un-compromising look into the best and worst
films of the genre proved both entertaining and informative, even if
like me you haven't seen many films from said genre.
Without giving too much away, highlights included the many digs
at Jeremy Clarkson, an explanation as to why there have been
no "serious" British road movies, and a rant about the Star Wars
franchise, substituting the Star Wars brand name for cheesecake
of all things.
Overall it pretty much gave me a greater idea as to why I don't drive,
although part of that is also because there are better things for
me to blow my money on.
Well, things that are more to my liking but aren't actually that
useful.
Still, only live once.
No idea what I'm doing tomorrow, with the only thing really worth
looking forward to this week being Tuppence And The Gang
coming back to the Maiden's Head on Saturday.
