Whenever I arrive in the radio rooms early I use every advantage I can to make use of the facilities before other people arrive. As well as recording my links I also recorded of my favourite quotes from last week's Strictly Come Dancing off iPlayer
including Bruce's reference to the Killer's "Human" and Len Goodman's utterance of the word "NeVER!".
I've also added some extra audio to my feature including the interview with Oli from yesterday although I feel I really need to re-record some of my links as I sound rather low in some of them.
The question is getting access to a studio as the second years are using them for their News and Magazine programmes although it didn't look as if they were even going to turn up due to last night's antics at Area.
Charles Carroll wasn't too pleased as punctuality is a requirement of the News part of the module and people can be marked down if they turn up late at any time.
I've brought both of my external hard drives in today so I can go through all my albums that I have to find any relevant music. One of the tracks I wanted to include was "Nana" by Jazztronik which I listened to this morning, although it didn't really fit in properly, so instead I decided to include the beginning of "There's Nothing Like This" by Omar in the part where I'm introducing Concha, as Omar grew up in Canterbury and the song itself fits in rather well.
I plan to end the feature with a slightly sped up version of David Bowie's "Heroes", to correspond with my own activity although you would think "The Laughing Gnome" would be more appropriate.
I may end up coming in over the weekend to do my links as this afternoon will be reserved for watching Carol Vorderman's final edition of Countdown after 26 years.
It's also Des's final show as well but when speaking to them at Area last night, Phil Landers and Spike were very positive about Jeff Stelling taking over as host as they see him reguarly on Sky Sports.
I guess I'll get used to him in a matter of time like I did with Des O'Connor although I very much doubt he'll be the equivalent of the rather monotone Des Lynam.
