Tonight's goings on at the Undercroft were pretty good in terms of the people who I was with, which included Matt and Rob, Jade, second years Lottie and Sophie, Lynne from Lee and Lynne and Phil H along with Denis and the rest of the Irish lads.
Although VKs were only a pound, the only flavours that they had were apple and ice so I didn't drink too many. Hopefully by next week they'll have a few more especially as they're relaunching Happy Mondaze so it really will be an excuse to drink myself stupid as part of the proceedings.
Mattie from YHIHF was DJing again where for part of the night he was playing some really good classics from the likes of Martha and the Vandellas and James Brown which I had a boogie to, as well as the song about "rock and roll music" that Status Quo used as the first song on the second "Anniversary Waltz" medley back in the early 90s.
However in the last hour before closing time he was playing more obscure noisy dance to give it a better description that I wasn't too keen on although it finished off with a bit of Rage which went down well as always.
Next week will be even better I can guarantee, judging by the amount of promotion that's taking place with stickers just about everywhere on campus.
As a result of spending tonight at the Croft, I didn't see the goings on in tonight's edition of "I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here" where the Brian Paddick was the next in line to leave the jungle. Although I wouldn't see him as an overall winner he's definitely been a good sport although I'd never assume that he was actually a fan of the band Blue and has a few of their videos on his mobile.
This resulted in Ant & Dec making jokes about being unsure about having "blue videos" on his mobile phone which had me chuckling to an extent.
As I write this I'm having a listen to the Jiva album that I brought on iTunes earlier today and four tracks in, I like what I'm hearing so far.
That's mainly because a lot of the tunes contain chord structures that would be associated with either elevators or soulful pop records of the early 90s such as Alison Limerick or the Brand New Heavies.
Whether it would have cheered me up on it's release date back in late 2007 would be another thing, as back then it was difficult to find anything that would lighten me up at all.
Definitely the magical ingredient of soul jazz records that seems to work for the likes of Shakatak and Incognito.
