I really couldn't have thought of a more original title for this post as tonight's Xmas party at the Undercroft gave a much needed kick up the backside to the University and the fun that can be had here overall when you get the right people involved.
Phil H managed to do a top job in getting the right people involved with just about every DJ set going down well and after 9pm it guaranteed people on the dancefloor. In fact it was probably the earliest I've seen the bouncers put the pool tables away as they were doing so during my DJ set at around 8:15pm.
I know it's a tired explanation, but everyone who was everyone managed to turn up and even after 11pm when they shut the doors outside the whole bar was still rammed with people.
Althought the majority of Xmas tunes were played by Chris and Phil, a few of those before slipped in some relevant seasonal tunes appropriate to their genre including in my set where I played Bobby D'Ambrosio's soulful house cover of "O Christmas Tree", and Steven played Destiny's Child's take on "The 12 Days Of Christmas" although I can't remember the actual title due to it not being released here in the UK.
Despite drinking an awful lot of Smirnoff Ices, I reckon I started to sober up by the end of the night and felt rather insecure amongst those around me, mainly those who were first year radio students. Although they could probably say the same about me as it's the first time this year I've probably got too into the spirit of things.
As we were going back I didn't feel up to taking on "The Krypton Factor" which basically involves me walking over the posts to chain up bicycles near the Undercroft.
What you might call a tradition on the journey back from the bar on many a Monday night.
It got even worse on arriving back at the flat as there were several people ramming the corridor and the kitchen with the fire alarms going off just adding to the trauma. They didn't stay on for too long and everyone's now decided to move to Flat 22 so I reckon I can have a proper lie down tonight.
In addition to that I managed to find the provisional marks for the live part of the Advanced Radio module where I managed to get a first which has made things a lot better.
I guess it puts a bit more pressure in getting the feature done to a similar result which will be quite a challenge but I'm sure it can be done.
Overall tonight has to be one of the most succesfull University events that has taken place this year and showing how a great night on this campus should be done.

Well Done Rob on getting the provisional marks
That is really something to celebrate,
