"N-N-N-N-Nineteen"

As expected, I headed over to someone elses house to make my iTunes purchases, that being Chris, Phil, and Stoobies, where when I arrived I had a chat with Chris, Denis and Barry whilst downloading both Jiva's album which I plan to feature on my show this week and Incognito's latest remix album.

I didn't stay for too long as I wanted to get back to the flat to see tonight's edition of
"It Takes Two" where Christine and Matthew were being interviewed. It was definitely worth it as they also had a feature on the unsung stars of the show, them being the singers who do a really good job each week especially male vocalist Tommy Blaize who I never realised came from the UK.

Tommy's been on since the very first series and has the ability to sing anything from a classic standard such as "The Way You Look Tonight" to anything bizarre as
"The Final Countdown" as proved in last week's show. Tommy's voice really stands out amongst all the other singers despite the fact they take a backseat during the show itself.

One of the singers they had in the earlier series happened to be Carol Kenyon who's probably best known for perfoming the female vocals on Heaven 17's "Temptation" and also performed on Paul Hardcastle's "Don't Waste My Time" in 1986.

It was when they performed that song on Top Of The Pops that producer Michael Hurll came up to Paul after the show and said that he really liked his number 1 hit "19" and asked if he would like to compose the new theme tune to the show which ended up being used for the next five years and for me is the definitive theme tune to TOTP.

As for tonight it looks set to be a good one for drinking if the VK offer goes ahead although before that there's an interview with popular indie band Cage The Elephant on Jade and Ana's show on Smoke at 8pm.
Definitely one to add to the list of bands and performers we've had on the station such as Natty and The Hoosiers.

As for next week it turns out that Smoke Radio will be hosting the end of termer at Area 51 and the good news is that Chris and Phil will be DJing at some point within the evening.
And of course there's the Undercroft night next Monday as well, although they'll be locking the doors to outside the bar after 11 so we'll see if anyone can manage having a bit of a boogie before 1am without needing a cigarette break.

It may be a case of ordering multiple VKs.
