Hitting The G Spot

Today was our first live show for G Radio and I'd say it went well although I felt it wasn't as good as last week's pilot in terms of flow. This was mainly due to a rather tense atmosphere in the studio where I was operating the desk and things could have been dealt with a bit more calmer when certain incidents happened, such as items being played too soon, starting and stopping and so on.

Presenters Sam, and Phil Landers were superb once again keeping it all together and Steven got really good comments on how he read the news from two guests that came in this week to analyse the show. I can't remember their names which has more or less broken a few rungs on the ladder, but they were from CBeebies and produce programmes for their radio shows that go out on BBC 7. They were also impressed by the branding both on and off air and oddly enough the thought the presentation went well too.

I haven't actually listened back to todays show so maybe it wasn't as bad as I thought it was.
I would much prefer it if things were dealt in a more relaxed manner with less attitude and I won't be bound to make so many mistakes with the buttons and so on.

As far as items went, there was a very good package on blood donors although we spent far too much time on the item lasting up to 20 minutes although it got a good reaction from listeners.
There was also a really good outside broadcast from the 20th Century Theatre in Westbourne Grove which Stoobie and Eric worked on and it also helped that Scoop was behaving itself.

The debriefing that took place with our guests was constructive with one of the main issues for next week being to make sure that both the presenters mic levels are the same as for most of today's show one was louder than the other.
A lot of the debriefing was also focused on the website which in fairness does need alterations in terms of content by giving details of what's happening on this week's show rather than just providing a generic blurb.

Stewart who's been designing the site did point out that he only got an E for his I.T. GCSE saying that it was mainly spent learning how to use Microsoft Office, putting it into as own words as "Fuck me that was boring".

Overall though it looks as if everyone will be working hard over the next week to make sure that show 2 builds on the positive points achieved from our first live show.

Now, now Robin. What you fail to mention is that despite having failed in a truly epic fashion, I have given the education system the finger and proven you don't need a GCSE in Microsoft Office to know how to make a good website. All you need is a good knowledge of computers, a good book and a lot of patience.

That said, I bloody hate writing website content. I make it tick, I don't want to have to paint the numbers on the face as well!

Good job on the desk driving by the way. I wasn't there to hear it but you got Kudos from beeb professionals. Hot shit!
