Worth The Early Starts

The second of our live shows for G Radio went well to the point of lecturer Dave Sharp referring to the show in the debriefing as "great listening". There were a few hiccups, mainly an outside broadcast to a homeless centre failing due to the ever unreliable Scoop refusing to cooperate but I thought that in terms of content it all went really well.

We weren't allowed to talk about X-Factor this week which had been a popular discussion point of the show from our early pilot programmes but we did have quite a lot of talk about the High School Musical movies and a really good feature from Sarah looking as to why they are so popular.

In addition to that was an entertaining package from Caroline about a group of gay people in search of ghosts although it could have possibly done without the use of the Ghostbusters theme towards the end. Mainly because as I've mentioned many times before it's difficult to think of that song now without the lyrics
"We're not scared of Bob Holness".

We had another guest in to analyse the programme, Simon Poole from Unique Broadcasting and gave very interesting comments. One of them was about the branding and suggested that it could be taken to the next level possibly by using more whooshes and FX within it and possibly making a set of music sweepers as well.

The latter has mainly been an area I've wanted to avoid but I may take that suggestion on board for the final show as it would be a good way of showing how what G-Radio has to offer is more wider than a station such Gaydar.
And it would be definitely be something to write about in my critical report.

As barely anyone turned up last Wednesday we've more or less been given tomorrow off although I need to be in at around 10am to see one of the study skills tutors and later on I've got my own show to sort out. Hopefully one of the bigger studios will be available as Studio 4 is completely messed up with only one microphone working. It will be even worse if the Shuffle boys on before me have to present from there as I've heard Adam say in the past that if they have to present from there again or more often than normal, then they will leave the station.

And in all fairness I wouldn't blame them at all due to the badly arranged equipment.

Let's say that we've got a long way to go in recieving the Student Radio Award for "Best Technical Achievement".
