Talking Book

Last night's Jonathan Ross saw a very entertaining interview with Stevie Wonder where he revealed how he'd managed to continue performing despite the death of his mother two years ago.

It was entertaining overall with one of the highlights being when Jonathan attempted to give his own take on Stevie's songs including "Don't You Worry 'Bout A Thing".
Bluey from Incognito once revealed to Craig Charles on BBC 6 Music that Stevie was present at one of their gigs and could be heard singing to that song when the band performed it which was one of their high points.
Oddly enough I've always played the original version of the song on my own show which has a nice latin feel to it although it probably doesn't really reflect the summer we've just had.

At the end of the show Stevie performed three of his tunes including "Superstition" with Jonathan Ross playing drums, finishing off with "Sir Duke" which I've probably known the longest out of any of his material.
This was probably because Radio 2 always used to play it in the days they were aiming at an older audience alongside the more inferior "I Just Called To Say I Love You".
Oddly enough he didn't perform any new material although he did refer to the lyrics of a song he had written in support of Barrack Obama which got a good response from the audience.

They should have just given Stevie the whole show as the other guests especially Peter Crouch's girlfriend were appalling but I imagine that was the idea.

Definitley worth staying up for.

I couldn't agree with you more, the other 2 guest were like spare parts on this show........Most enjoyable and I just love Stevie's sense of humour.
