An Unnoticeable Departure

The final episode of Grange Hill has just been shown on BBC 1 which didn't have the most inspiring storyline but it was good to see Todd Carty making an appearance as Peter Jenkins visiting his nephew "Togger" Johnson. The final scene where Togger messes about with the arrow giving directions for the year sevens was a good way to go out on however reflecting on a similar scene in the first episode 30 years ago.

I've also liked the fact that they've brought back the original theme tune for the final series although in the early days Thames Television used an arrangement of the same tune as the theme to their game show "Give Us A Clue".
Which probably makes sense as it falls into the category of the programme's title being sung the to the theme tune itself in the same way as "The Sweeney" and "This Is Your Life".

Whilst their are several other examples, the one that I tend to associate with
that category is "Tonight With Jonathan Ross" which was shown on Channel 4 three nights a week during the early 90s and over the hammond organ tune the viewer could sing "Tonight With Jonathan Roooooss, Tonight With Jonathan Rooooooss".
They changed the theme slightly every week with it once being played on a vibraphone and when the programme was done on location from Paris it was played on an accordian.

I still think that theme tune is a lot better than the one he currently uses on his BBC 1 chat show which hasn't been changed at all since the show started in late 2001 although the show itself is probably more notable for the house band "4 Poofs And A Piano" when it comes to anything musical.

I'm certain there was actually five of them to start off with.
