A Saturday Of Boozing At The Box

Tonight's been fun.

The rest of the family arrived back early, but I stayed put in the front room with my laptop and enjoyed the TV offerings alongside many a VK and a delicious chicken stew with pasta.

They got the crap out of the way first with that appalling Cheryl Cole special where the saving grace was Holly Willoughby hosting.

I'm pleased I'm not the only one who thinks that Cheryl Cole has the personality of a tortoise shell judging by the response on Facebook and Twitter.

The X Factor semi semi final was pretty much enjoyable and I'm pleased Stacey has gone as not only was she a great sport, but also because I won't feel bad about doing my radio show at the same time tomorrow evening.

We've got another Will Vs Gareth on our hands now although I reckon
Gareth Gates, I mean Joe McElderry will end up winning.

Whatever the result, none of them really have potential long term success in the same way as Alexandra or JLS did last series.

And the duets were sub-standard.

No Beyonce moments this time round.

I have now officially lost interest in the series now, and thankfully there's just one more show left.

As for the Comedy Awards, what a show.

Finally a new set and opening titles after about 9 or 10 years, this time with a superhero theme.

Not sure about the new trophy.

I was really pleased to see Peter Kay and Graham Linehan getting the Outstanding Contribution and Ronnie Barker Writers Guild Awards respectively, and well down Outnumbered for their sucesses.

And seeing Sir Terrance of Wogan get his award was quite something.

Two great honours in one week following his induction into the Radio Academy Hall Of Fame.

Talk about finishing his breakfast show on a high.

As I type I'm watching the ITV2 show where Charlie Brooker won the questionably nominated "Best Comedy Newcomer" award for his You Have Been Watching series.

Despite being in comedy for almost a decade, that series was one of my favourites of the year and the good news is that it will be back for more in 2010.

And the very sweet Ramona from Outnumbered has won the best female newcomer with Wossy being very courteous.

Despite being really tipsy I'm in a better mood about doing the radio show tomorrow with X Factor now officially out of the way.

I'm pretty certain I'll be back on the 20th as well as Saturday lunchtime presenter Leigh Blunt is hoping to present on Boxing Day when I won't even be in Canters.

It's going to be a hectic month, full of great telly, and sweet liquids.

And dreadful hangovers.

In the words of JLC, "Good times".
