Side Splitting Scandals

The Russell Brand documentary earlier tonight proved to be not so revealing as such, but a good insight into what leads to the adlibbed and offbeat proceedings of Russell's stand up act, and his worldwide notoriety.

One part stood out amongst the rest, which was an extract from his "Scandalous" tour where he joked about James Blunt sounding like a car horn.

It's better when you hear the gag itself, but it took me over 10 minutes to stop laughing at it, like a naughty child who's got the giggles in an exam room.

It brings to mind a few other instances that would work well on Harry Hill's show, such as when I eject a CD from my computer the noise it makes sounds similar to "Colonel Bogey", and when I lived in halls in my final year, the sound of my door squeaking sounded like Mario losing a life in Mario 64.

It's all ridiculous but it sticks in your head for some stupid reason.

On a similar note, from what I've heard this year's line up for Channel 4's Big Fat Quiz is set to be the best yet.

Charlie Brooker, David Mitchell, and Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand on the same team, that's a Christmas present and a half.

This isn't Channel 4 sticking their middle fingers up to the Daily Mail, it's going up to them and saying to their faces "Fuck off you miserable cunts".

If it's a blog post about relating to the Daily Mail, then the c-word can be published without stars.

That's my rule anyway.

Alongside Claudia Winkelman and Rob Brydon and Jimmy Carr as the host, that's definitely the show on television I'm looking forward to the most this festive holiday.

And it's a good line up and all with The Royle Family, David Tennant's Doctor Who departure, Ant & Dec, and Gavin and Stacey.

Still proving my case that December is the best time of year for great telly.
