I arrived back in Canterbury this afternoon after my almost week away
for Christmas, where this year we stayed in a rather pleasant
house in Oxwick in rural Norfolk.
It was nice to get not just my own room but also a proper bed
although nothing too eventful took place during our stay.
Actually having thought about it, we went on a walk yesterday
where we were followed, almost chased by a rather wild cattle herd
which put one of the elderly family members on the nervous side of things
but luckily the cows made a turning before they got too close.
It's also worth mentioning the upstairs loo, as whenever it was flushed
it would make a loud droning noise for two minutes that could be heard
throughout the whole house, due to it being powered by a septic tank.
I was getting rather curious that people were flushing to take the mickey
at one point, with one flush after another.
As for presents, well I didn't get too many physical ones as such,
apart from the DVD of Christ On A Bike featuring yours truly making
many a gormless grin throughout Richard Herring's routine.
Most of the other presents will go nicely towards shrinking my
credit card bill.
Well I say that now...
On arriving back in Canters this afternoon the plan was to meet up
with Josh, although being without social networking for a week,
I didn't know where.
It turned out that him and his mates were at a favourite restuaurant
of the Blamires, that being Cafe Mauresque which I was a bit taken aback
about, but luckily I didn't have to wait too long for them to leave
when arriving about an hour later.
Josh had travelled back from Manchester with his lovely wife, and
was accompanied by a few other mates from College and KIAD (Kent
Institute of Arts and Design) where our next port of call was the Parrot
pub, with a genuine parrot.
Cue endless squeaking and whistling.
It was also good to meet Josh's family who made a visit shortly
after and despite only drinking Red Bull, the effects of liquid
knew no bounds.
Probably just as well I'm back safely on home soil, and in time for
an annual telly event, that being The Big Fat Quiz.
I wonder what news stories will be re-enacted by the pupils of
Mitchellbrook Primary School this year?...
