Still Not Wanting To Grow Up

Almost a year after BBC Switch made it's more than timely departure,
CBBC has attempted to break out of it's 6-12 year old comfort zone
with Postcode, a drama reflecting the gritty and tough lives of
teenagers from different backgrounds who live in the same area
and have to deal with the rather nasty gangs frequenting it.

Grange Hill (especially the later years), this isn't.

It may have taken five years, but it now appears that CBBC are
capable of producing more serious dramas to match that of
the 7/7 drama That Summer Day although like said drama,
that may be down to it being written by a writer not normally
associated with writing for younger viewers.

What surprised me even more was that the series was produced
by The Foundation, a production company I've not been to keen on,
if the fact that they made Dani's House is anything to go by.

Having watched the first episode on iPlayer, I wouldn't know if
Iain and Hacker in the CBBC Office introduced it with the reverence
needed.

With the remaining episodes airing nightly up to Thursday,
it will be interesting to see how it all progresses and again,
despite being almost twice the age of the target audience,
I think it's got promise.
