any expense has actually gone into this at all) so I've put together
a Mixcloud of festive offerings that are typical of what I would be
listening to in December.
Included is a neo-soul take on "Sleigh Ride" by the Latin Project,
Donny Hathway's "This Christmas" given the souful house treatment
by The Elements of Life, and the Terry Wogan favourite "What A Day"
by Elio Pace, notable for a stunning key-change halfway.
And it's a far cry from the modern day X Factor "let's stick one in two bars
towards the end of the song" nonsense.
I was initially going to include John Coltrane's "My Favourite Things"
in there, but at a length of 13 minutes I wouldn't want to subject
anyone to the musical equivalent of a party blower.
Hence the inclusion of another version of the song by underrated
jazz vocalist Carmen Lundy.
If you've got a fair bit of spare time over the holidays feel free
to listen all the way through and I would love to get any constructive
suggestions regarding my mixing abilities.
Or transitional abilities to be more apt.
