Just about all my bags are packed and in less than two hours,
I will be heading over to Fakenham for the annual Christmas
retreat in the "middle of nowhere" as it always seems.
It will probably be OK this year as I haven't planned anything
elaborate to do there, or have my hopes up about implausible
thoughts, normally of a nostalgic manner.
And being in a different house to the one we've been to for
the last 9 years may make it more fun as well.
To be quite honest, the month is absolutely speeding by
and that may be down to a habit of looking forward rather than
backwards which I've been wanting to do for a long time.
And whatever job I get (I'll be bloody lucky) or what I plan
to do with my time, if I don't like it, I'll try and tell people
straight who are able to help, doing my best not to make it sound
like a moan.
However, part of the reason I'm slightly positive all of a sudden
is because I have parcels of CDs containing radio and audio production
related material that I have kept preserved right up to the end of the year,
as a "treat" of sorts.
The trick is not to become obsessed with them, or at worst
"cynically nostalgic" because of them.
It won't be too bad as I've got a fair few things coming up in London
and Canterbury regarding birthdays, drinking dos etc.
One being on the day I get back (27th) as Josh from college is returning
from Manchester for a few days and we'll be having a few drinks as you do.
As is usually the case this time of year, I'll be taking a break from blogging,
even if the house we're going to does have internet access.
Surely that's the best Christmas present of all.
Have a good holiday if you've reached this far, and go easy on the booze.
