2s Company

Tonight's double bill of Bullseye was worth watching as it was the finale of the 1988/89 series and the opening of the 1989/90 series. Barely any difference really between the two of them except that the animated Central endcap had been dropped by the start of the 1989 series due to the corporate ITV logo being introduced across the network. Despite it being one of the most memorable (and rather scary) idents from my younger days I didn't realise that it had a short run on air as it wasn't introduced until around halfway through the 1988 series of Bullseye.
It was also amusing to here how Jim Bowen pronounced Kenya as "Keenya" which was the star prize hiding behind Bully in both shows, won and lost respectively.

On the subject of idents, BBC2 unveil their new set from tomorrow and from the still images that I've seen it looks like they're returning to the wide range of 2s that graced our screens before they all had to be done behind yellow backgrounds. The concept involves the 2 being the "window on the world" as taken from the shots on the BBC Press Office site.
Then again it also appears to taking cues from the current Channel 4 idents by having the logo shot in peculiar postions.
With all these idents on the terrestrial channels being shot in far flung locations with expensive designs, it's an example of evidence as to why programming content is sinking lower.
