Oh my, today was a nightmare in terms of getting stuff done for our assessed show on Friday. There's a bit of confusion within both groups of using functions on Selector that we weren't taught to do but apparently have to use for our final show. Despite several phone calls to RCS we were continuously put on hold and this will certainly be an issue that gets put through to the next course comittee meeting as it's ridiculous having RCS taught by two radio students rather than getting a professional within the industry to explain how it operates.
Or even better, Matthew Linfoot the senior lecturer in radio could be given a crash course on RCS and all the other computer equipment that he doesn't know how to use, just to make things a lot less stressfull for us and to have a member of staff who is readily available to give us a hand if we don't know how to use a specific function of the software.
That was the least of my worries by 7pm as a couple of "helpful engineers" checking the electricity in RP2 had done something to the stack in which stopped us from switching studios meaning that Smoke International started 15 minutes later than scheduled and had to come out of Studio 4 or as I like to call it The Broom Cupboard. Natasha was on her own this week although I gave her a hand with operating the poorly organised desk in the studio which I also used to do tonight's soul show, along with a CD player that had an LCD display that was bust! What irritated me when leaving the studios was that the engineers had said that they would go to check inside Studio 4 tomorrow evening which means that everything could go kaput as far as the station's concerned.
It wasn't all bad however as the photo shoot for Smoke took place where quite a lot of the presenters were present to have their mugshots taken. Some of the highlights included Ina attempting to pose as Grace Jones and Tudor making use of the wind generator for his shot. I on the other hand had photos taken at every angle possible including the obligatory lying down shot, although this time I was lying on my front!
It may be the first cheery photo taken of me wearing glasses.
