I've uploaded the "highlights" of the Retro Room show from last Friday which I think is the best practical piece of work I've helped to work on as part of the BAMS radio course although as you can probably hear we're not professionals at reading important information.
Even more amusing is this offering from the TV students "The Times They Are A Changing" done as part of their Creative Video module featuring one of our ex students David Jackson travelling forward in time but with the silent movie element staying present throughout.
Ross Goodlass's girlfriend is also seen as the woman Jackson's after although my initial thoughts on seeing this was that it was Goodlass dressed in drag!
Once again it was an early start for me as I wanted to get my Media Technology essay out of the way. I nearly acheived that aim although the word count is a tiny bit low so I may add an section looking at the social factors of the telephone as that's probably the only invention before the Second World War that I think I'm confident about analysing.
I then headed up to the radio rooms where it was empty for most of the day until Phoebe showed up to record the Dry Ice show for tomorrow and Carl arrived to do this weeks live Gospel Show. It was the first time Phoebe had presented the show on her own as the other girls were off home this weekend but it seemed natural enough as she put's the most work in to preparing every show!
Her words not mine, but it manages to sound perfectly chilled every week with a very eclectic selection. This week some of the highlights included a chilled Ibiza version of "Riders On The Storm" by the Doors and a track from Mr. Scruff's "Keep It Unreal" album, the name of which escapes me.
Ideally I'd love to do a one off show for Smoke possibly towards the end of the year where I get to play wide weird range of records that wouldn't usually be played on my normal show such as Tracy Chapman, 808 State, Count Basie and even Napalm Death where appropriate. It may even make Mum and Dad want to listen.
