So, a normal Sunday night in front of the television starting off with this weeks Strictly dance-off.
John Sergeant once again got the public vote resulting in Cherie Lunghi and Lisa Snowdon competing for the judges vote. Although I thought Cherie's dance routine was better than Lisa's I'm happy they've kept Lisa and Brendan on as she is definitely one of the lookers in the competition with more to give.
This was followed by the start of series 8 of I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here getting off to a strong start and plenty of highlights. These included Robert Kilroy Silk struggling to walk on water and Martina Navratilova managing to jump out of a plane along with the other members of what became the home camp.
However Joe Swash stole the show for me as he was up against Simon Webbe in the "Trauma Tank" trial. It turned out that rather than the dreadful looking creatures inside the tank itself, Joe was more scared of the klaxon going off which was pretty amusing although I would I really wouldn't blame him. You can probably tell I had the subtitles on during that part.
I really don't like it when people refer to what are actually hand-held horns as "klaxons", when the noise it actually makes by that name is more like the noise made when a gunging took place on "Noel's House Party" AKA the best sound effect ever.
And of course to avoid confusion with the band of the same name, in case anyones asking.
I never actually heard that word used on television despite it the above example being a familar noise, until around the mid 90s when Dale Winton would refer to it as the time-up signal when he presented "Pets Win Prizes" which used a very similar sound to the gunge tank.
Anyway returning to the jungle it turns out that Joe has been nominated again for tomorrow's trial against one of the models who's name I can't remember. I reckon Joe's a strong contender to win the series overall with George Takei being a second favourite.
I doubt I'll be able to watch tomorrow's episode however as I'll either be at Broadcasting House watching Ivan Brackenbury record his Radio 2 special or at the Undercroft as normal on a Monday if I arrive back in time.
However it should be a very enjoyable series with a strong line up of contestants.
