Promo Fail

In an unplanned warm up to "The Room" this Saturday, I've managed to find
what many have branded "The Worst Video Of All Time" for pretty much
the same reasons.

Issued onto Youtube by EMI, this is Joss Stone's self produced video
for her 2008 single "Baby Baby Baby" which was brought to my attention
via this amusing mickeytake from Adam Buxton in the guise of
Ken Korda.

The fact that it doesn't have a filter on their makes it even more
easy to send up.

The song itself isn't too bad, one of many impressive tunes from her
"Introducing" album which was when musically she started to earn
my respect.

As a performer and overall "diva", well I doubt I'd be fully converted.

I've had my own ongoing vision inside my head of producing my own video
for unsurpsingly, "Survivin" by The Sunburst Band where the various
lines would be mimed by different Uni friends in particular locations around London and I would do the same in Canterbury.

It's a similar concept to Stone's really, only worse.

For instance the opening line "Tryin' to survive, the daily struggles of trying to make sense out of life" would be mimed by Steven McIntosh in a Costa,
with the camera panning round him reading a newspaper with a headline sensationalising about Leona Lewis.

Whilst the opening shot with the piano chords would start off blurred to match the reverse piano at the beginning, and the person playing it would either be Danielle Farthing or Caroline regardless of their inabilities.

Everyone would have a part although it's probably a creative idea that would
never be realised due to time and availability.

And my lack of recording and editing equipment.

Elsewhere in radio there's anticipation over the location for
Radio 1's Big Weekend with a tweet from the fake Andy Parfitt on Twitter
suggesting it may come from Bangor.

That reminds me of 1993 and when The Roadshow came from
Bangor in Wales and one of the performers was up and coming soul vocalist
Lena Fiagbe was lined up to perform live.

Only she ended up in Bangor in Northern Ireland, which was ironic
as the song she was meant to be performing was called "Gotta Get It Right".

Overall, it shows that we're only human.
