Crashed Out

On returning to Canterbury I've done what is probably what I do best on returning home; crashing out in bed in the middle of the day. Only Dad and Olly are at home currently as Mum's taking part in a walk through the Cotswolds and Kate's away preparing for her three month visit to the US which starts on Wednesday.
Olly's already had a gander at "Someone Like's Yoghurt" before I've got a look in but according to him it's got all the funny bits I can remember from the original act so it sounds like a treat.

The birthdays have been non-stop this week and today happens to be Joey's 22nd. Still rather odd to think he's actually 5 days younger than I am.
I recieved a nice e-mail from him thanking me for supplying the sound effects for his Radio Battleships feature last week and it was nice that he came to me rather than searching the very large library at his workplace. On that same subject I may ask him to try and find a noise I've been looking for in the clear for a very long time, accompanying many a gunging on Noel's House Party!
To find that would be the ideal reason for me to try and get a foot in the door at the BBC although I do have the noise of the hooter on it's own which if you've never heard before, you haven't lived.
Live and Kicking, Run The Risk, Pets Win Prizes and many other shows from the corporation in the last 15 or so years have made use of that sound adding to the entertainment and I'm sure I'll find a use for it in my final year at Smoke.

Overall I'm glad all those hours listening to library and sound FX CDs paid off at the awards on Friday but to be honest it's one of those things I really enjoy doing and if it makes other presenters happy by using them in their own shows then I must be doing something right.
But there have been some programmes on the station such as Shuffle that don't tend to use jingles or imaging within their shows and that helps to make them sound distinctive and very down to earth in their own way.

However for the next two weeks I want to get away from all this radio lark once I've cleared up all my stuff off the Network folders in M-Block and visit parts of London that I've either never visited before or haven't returned to for donkey's years. Forest Gate may be on the list!
