Uneventful But Not Bored

A run of the mill day really, spent sorting out audio in Studio 6. I've also had a listen back to the assessed shows from the Music Radio module last semester including the pilot for the Retro Room which has one of the worst playlists I've had to work from including "Puppet on a String" by Sandie Shaw, "Bye Bye Baby" by the Bay City Rollers and Leo Sayer's "You Make Me Feel Like Dancing". Thankfully by the time of our assessed show we spent a bit more time on the running order and I sounded a lot less nervous.

Both my group and the Funk Soul Nation team decided to add live callers for the phone in competition of the final assessed show although for FSN things didn't go as hoped with the first caller getting the answer incorrect meaning that they had to go to plan B.

This involved getting Mal one of the journalism lecturers to play the part of a caller called Steve with embarrassing results.

I think it's kind of unfair that my group had the advantage of being assessed on the Friday as it gave us a chance to listen to what the other group were doing the day before. Then again it was also entertaining giving us an idea on what should be avoided and for me in particular how they would produce and a present a soul funk based music show.
The best practical module of the second year bar none.

Earlier on I brought a rock-bottom priced DVD player which cost around £20 with a very tiny remote control. I also brought the DVD of the final original Doctor Who story "Survival" which as mentioned on an earlier post has a selection of superb extras. These include three documentaries with one looking at the development of Ace, the Doctor's companion during the late 80s and one of the most gutsiest from my point of view.

Many people of a younger generation will probably remember actress Sophie Aldred better from presenting the BBC Schools programme "Words And Pictures" with Magic Pencil;
"top to bottom and flick!"

The television enthuisast isn't left out either as the DVD also contains the BBC 1 continuity from the original transmission. Interesting considering there was no assurance from the announcer saying that the series would return in the Autumn of 1990 at the end.
That's my night sorted out.
