The Search For A Safe Pair Of Hands?

My throat seems to have recovered now from yesterday and everything's certainly looking a lot brighter outside. It doesn't really make a difference though as I'm still putting trails, beds etc for next week in Studio 6. With things getting busier in the third year for me I may have to give up a few things and one of them happens to be my role as Station Imaging producer at Smoke Radio.

I want to continue doing this however until Fresher's Week at least and it's one of the only areas in radio I have a great passion for. It doesn't take too much time either but that's partly because I've spent too much time listening to library music CDs which contain several pieces that no sane person would want to sit through considering a lot of it was made 20 years ago. And whenever I've asked someone else to take responsibility for putting either a trail or set of jingles together they've normally not bothered putting in any work and I've normally ended up finishing the job.

I don't like stepping on people's toes, but when it comes to this area of radio I just have to be involved. Especially as I doubt I'll get to do this sort of thing anywhere else unless I get a job in radio. But then again that's what I should really be thinking about.

Another thing to point out is that when Tim was still here at Westminster in the third year he managed to balance the demanding coursework and continue his role looking after Smoke Radio's imaging and presenting the sports show for an hour every week.
And this didn't stop him from getting a first for his degree. I doubt I'll get as outstanding result as that but it proves that it is possible to get assignments done and have an extracurriclar life at the same time.

The only thing that would quosh my enthusiasm for helping out on the station would be if I had to end up presenting from Studio 4 with one of the worst set out desks I've used. Hopefully they'll do a bit of work on re-arranging the faders over the summer so we can avoid any more outbursts like this from The Tudor Gent. You can sense that he's trying very hard not to let any four letter words come out of his mouth.
