The first Media Events essay is now sorted along with the proposal for the next assignment so I can be more relaxed about that until the end of April when it needs to be handed in.
I was up in the library pretty early this morning sorting out what books I would use to help write the essay although when the time comes I'll probably end up using what I can find easier to get hold of.
A refresher on how to use the Infolinx system might be helpful so I can find it easier to access journals bearing in mind I haven't used that search engine since writing my PR case study last year when I practically lived in the Harrow library as a result of my laptop messing up.
After handing in the essay I popped up to studio 4 where Goodlass and Marshall were doing their show for this week and had the television in there tuned a Danish phone in channel in a style similar to the Mint and Quizmania where the presenter looked as if he was on the edge of a nervous breakdown waiting for people to ring in. How we are able to recieve channels of that type I've no idea, but it provided guilty amusement for us viewing his dilemma.
I also found out a bit more about the elections that are due to take place next week and oh no, it appears that Salima is running for a second year as the UWSU president. She's running against Martin from the third year who would probably make an effort to focus on the fun side of uni life judging by his familiar presence at the Undercroft bar and flamboyant acting in last years Drama society panto.
However whilst Martin's popular on the Harrow campus Salima has most of her supporters in Central and if anything needs sorting then it's the divide between both of those campuses. Then again it can be a bit steep travelling there continuously which explains why I haven't been to places like Intermission on the Marylebone campus since Freshers.
Rayhan on the other hand is stepping down allowing someone else to take his position as the Coms officer so I will be interested to find out who will want the responsibility of overseeing the extracurricular media on campus.
All UWSU staff at the shop and Undercroft bar have to be impartial as do all the presenters on Smoke Radio when they're on air. However as the results are announced on the same day as the 24 broadcast it would be the ideal opportunity to bring Scoopy (provided there's a mains supply) to the annoucement itself so we can broadcast it live. There's obviously needs to be an improvement as far as promotion goes as I've barely seen any campaign flyers or posters at this stage.
