Wall Of Youth

The drama society's performance of Howard Katz was a fitting farewell for leader Joe Haddow in what I thought had to be his most prominent role in any of the productions I've seen. Joey was the lead role in Howard Katz, a play about an entertainment promoter with elements of gangster esque scenarios, comedy and a few emotional moments as well. Some of the highlights included Penny playing the part of Howard's daughter managing to act really well as a 6 year old girl, Ina making a surprise apearance as a waitress/blackjack dealer and Chris Jones in many multiple roles. I particuarly liked his utterance of "Ooii!" during the second act as the main character tried to see his wife again.
A few problems with props being knocked over or falling down didn't stop it from being a superb performance although I expect the audience tomorrow to be a bit more packed than tonight although a few of those in attendance included ex Drama Society chief Rob Watson, Tudor and Jo Cave who is also coming tomorrow to see her boyfriend make his final bow.

After that most of us headed down to the Undercroft for the usual frolics and wide selection of music to dance to joined by a few of the first years. As usual it took ages to get back to the flat but this was partly because myself and Phil decided to take a fake wall on a large wooden board back to flat 68 and almost going round the whole perimeter of Harrow Halls before deciding to take it back which caused a lot of bother with Phil running too fast almost resulting in me tripping over the speed humps. Then again I doubt it would have fitted through the doorway.
