"I Say I Enjoyed It..."

I stumbled across a very worthy upload to Youtube, the first episode of Never Mind The Buzzcocks from November 1996. (Pt 2, Pt 3)
Nothing's majorly different from how the series is now although there were a lot more rounds crammed into one show including much missed gems such as "Dance Hell" where the teams had to identify what either Pan's People or Legs and Co were dancing to on Top Of The Pops without the sound. Also featured is Earth Wind and Fire's "Boogie Wonderland" in the indecipherable lyrics round, and to this day I've never been able to work out what Maurice White is singing.
Mark Lamarr back then was witty and snide and by looking at this clip was a lot happier doing the show then, than he was towards the end of his long stint on the show where in place of jokes were constant death threats to people he personally hated.

Apart from that it's been a run of the mill day here in Flat 14B, I've just watched the first heat of this years Comic Relief Does Fame Academy featuring a desperate performance by Roland Rivron of "Stand By Your Man". This featured a gimmick involving imitation breasts despite the fact it was Tammy Wynette who song the song originally and not Dolly Parton. It didn't help being overshadowed by fellow contestant Zoe Salmon off Blue Peter who almost ended up bearing the genuine article!
I'm not sure if I'll be able to keep up with it throughout the series although I doubt it will be a major loss if I don't and with the Smoke 24 hour broadcast on the same day it may be the first time I don't actually see the live broadcast on the day itself.

Anyway for the rest of tonight it's rasbperry Breezers all the way at Percy Lou's!

Haha, fantastic! Boogie Wonderland's undecipherable lyrics! I actually know the song word for word now, but I will admit it took me many years.

For the record, even Maurice is heard to be singing different lyrics every now and then on different live DVDs/CDs. It seems even HE doesn't know what he's singing!
