It's pretty quiet here in Canterbury as Mum and Dad set off very early to go up to Yorkshire to see how Grandma's getting on which they've been doing at least once every month recently.
With no interviews until Monday I may as well live it up and endure in the DVD set of The Simpsons series 4 which I decided to bring with me for no reason whatsoever including such classics as when Bart gets a big brother to get his own back on Homer, and Homer going into the snow plow business as Mr. Plow.
Moving on this isn't breaking my vow as they're just the opening titles but I was very interested to discover the 1993 titles to The ITV Chart Show which were the first to include Twix sponsors. This seems to be the first thing that everyone that I've spoken to remembers about the Chart Show and they made good use of the Twix logo within the titles. This immediatley takes my back to my 8th birthday which fell on a Saturday coincidentally enough but I was unlucky enough to be very poorly after my party from the night before so this was ideal recovery wrapped up on the living room sofa.
I've had to respond by uploading the 1996 titles introduced almost exactly 3 years later to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the show. I can remember being surprised when seeing these for the first time as they were nothing like anything that had been on the show before and also because of the accompanying tune which ends just as it is about to start! Also listen out for the deep voice bellowing "THE CHART SHOW" just before the second Twix logo appears. The same show also saw the retirement of the HUD display with the computer icons which in all fairness was looking very out of date having been used since the late 80s.
On the morning the titles made their debut (18.05.96), I'd just come home from hospital after swallowing a small round object which I will more than happily tell you about if you ask me nicely. 11 years on, (bloody hell, I had just turned 11 when this happened and time has shot by) I still haven't learnt to establish second thoughts before making my move.
