"Be A Friend, Rewind To The End"

Now this is very nostalgic and suits my trainspotter exploits perfectly, a selection of video idents and promos from around the mid-late 80s!

First of all this promo from The Video Collection in 1985. The music that accompanies the sting after the legal disclaimer was also used to introduce the weather on TVS around the same time oddly enough although I wouldn't remember it as we were still living in London at the time.
The more memorable intro with the CGI television can be seen here.

I'm not sure if the strategy of logo designers and music composers was to scare the viewers witless but it certainly shows on this rather unnerving ident for Palace Video.
The part of the disclaimer that says "OR ELSE!" is just a hint for what's to come.
Never mind Palace, Slaughterhouse would be more appropriate!

This offering here is interesting, BBC Video from the Watch With Mother tape released in 1987 where instead of the rather unnerving synth tune associated with the brightly coloured star, we get a more cute and relaxed music box tune.
Even better is the replacement introduced shortly after in 1988 with a variation on the COW Globe which has to be my favourite video ident from Auntie.
The sole reason why I brought my copy of the Doctor Who "Curse Of Fenric" video all those years ago.

Credit of course to those who've been up in lofts in order to find these gems although I reckon in about 20 years time I could end up with a loft full of external hard drives!
