Not being a huge fan of the series I've only managed to find out about the long awaited male contestant who entered the Big Brother house last night.
Zak Lichman a 26 year old who used to be a member of early noughties boyband "Northern Line" and sadly enough I can remember them as well!
They made quite a few appearances at the time on shows such as SM:TV Live and were played quite a lot on Essex FM which at the time was a listening weakness.
Their most memorable track for me was one called "All Around The World"; not an East 17 cover, not a Lisa Stansfield cover but a disco tinged dancer which is a perfect example of my sort of bubblegum pop record.
What's even more sad is that Zak's not the only member of the band to appear
in a reality TV show as fellow band member Andy Love made it through to the second stages of the first series of Pop Idol in late 2001. This was the part of the series when each contestant had to perform to the judges in a rather enclosed room accompanied by a solo piano. And I'll be honest, I ended up breaking down after Will Young performed "Light My Fire" for the first time as it stood out perfectly amongst the blandness, and the eventual winner did the right thing to finally hit back at Simon Cowell for dismissing it as "distinctly average".
This being the same man who gave us Robson and Jerome.
