I've spent the last hour on the websites DooYoo and Ciao looking at reviews of careers from others who have worked/still work at ASDA. Most of them were mixed explaining about the advantages you had were that the social element of working there as the positive part, but the disadvantages were the rather rude or otherwise monotonous customers. I very rarely had the opportunity (ooh that's a rather ironic word) of working there on a day to day basis but I barely had the confidence to establish long term ties with any of my colleagues. To be honest all the really nice colleagues had dispeared when I was there last summer and on my last day I reckon I left not on the best of terms.
I've also had a look at perspectives from other places of employment such as Woolworths and McDonalds and three words would probably sum up the latter: no fucking way.
I guess the next couple of months will mean that I'll need to be careful with whatever bob I've got left and not make any ridculous purchases. Looks like Ebay and 4od will be off limits until September!
Thankfully whilst I refused point blank to be responsible for cooking (or should that be heating up) the vile pile in the ASDA customer restaurant, I've been given a chance to do the cooking once every week whilst I'm still here in Canterbury.
What many ASDA employees I worked with may be to music, I am to cooking as my efforts after about a month may start to get repetitive as there's only so many different sorts of meat you can use in a stew, bolognaise and so on.
However with anything creative I end up doing the old latin phrase stays in mind;
"Tempus Consumit Res Creare" meaning "It Takes Time To Make Things" as inscribed at the entrance of jingle company JAM Creative Productions in Dallas.
