My last few moments in halls for this year and I'm starting to feel rather sad about leaving. However the main reason it's only started to sink in now was because the events of last night tended to overshadow that feeling completely.
I arrived at the Underpants at around 7:30pm where there were quite a few people waiting to see the England Vs Brazil game. Whilst they had the match build up on the big screen there was no sound and a few people decided to go off to a nearby pub in Kenton before they even got a chance to switch the sound on at the Undercroft. Pretty soon after, birthday boy Chris Jones arrived along with Penny, Lucy T, and all but one of the residents of the Northwick Mansion
Later arrivals included Pippa ST and her flatmate Hollie and even Ross G was there adding to the excitement. Decio was spinning the tunes and we got a bit of everything with me getting rather excited when they started playing "The Twist" by Chubby Checker and "Move Bitch" by Ludacris. Despite staying open until 3am, the bar was pretty much rammed and the impatience of some of the customers ended up with them getting a bit too rowdy resulting in them getting arrested.
I tried not to let that get in the way despite not having a lot to drink myself and we finished the night in style with "The Time Of My Life" from Dirty Dancing as the final record played.
But the party wasn't over as quite a lot of us decided to start a bonfire on the grass outside the Harrow Campus which almost everyone contributed too. First year film student Dave even brought his guitar with him which resulted in various members of Team Buff joining in with renditions of McFly songs and even the theme from Friends!
I then realised that I still had last night's lamb stew and pasta to finish off so I decided to heat it up and bring it out for everyone to share! Those who helped me finish it off thought that the sauce from the stew was really lovely with the pasta but the enjoyment didn't last long as both the fire brigade and the police arrived to put a stop to our cavorts.
All the chaos and excitement caused by this resulted in another individual getting arrested, this time for taking photos as it apparently broke the Terrorism Act although he was released shortly after although from what I heard they didn't let him go lightly. The police couldn't force us to return to our rooms either because the fire alarm was going off, although this time they actually had someone in the reception to finally switch the noise off.
The perfect way to finish my second year in halls and I'm hoping my final year will see a similar scenario. For now though I've got three bags full of stuff, some of which I wish I'd given to Mum and Dad two days ago, to travel back to Canterbury with. I'd best have a check to see when the earliest train from now is.
Overall I'm going to miss campus life whilst back in Canterbury.
