The record store Fopp has gone into administration seeing the closure of several stores all over the country. To be honest the one in Canterbury was nowhere near as good as the one in Tottenham Court Road in London where myself and Paul Calvert spent quite a lot of time in on a visit into Central a few months ago. There were some superb bargains in there with one of my purchases being a compilation of rarities from The Average White Band including a brilliant live version of "Let's Go Round Again".
The closure is largely due to the heavy amount of music downloads that are dominant and the way things are developing, movie downloads may become popular as well. The BBC also plan to follow in the footsteps by introducing their own on demand service by the end of the month and I'm hoping it will extend to the large archive of programmes they have so one day the Online Programme Archive will actually become visual!
But overall whilst it may save me some bob (and quite efficiently to be honest) the store closure will be another reason why I may not be heading into Central as much in the third year.
