I've just had a listen to something slightly beyond normal teritory, that being the online stream of BBC Oxford which is a fine example of how local radio should sound.
It's got some good broadcasters on it's on air team such as Danny Cox who has to be one of the most passionate and dynamic voices in radio in the last 20 or so years.
His show this morning included an item on an overweight female vocalist putting together a vocal group consisting of only size 18 girls.
You can see how radio can be used to it's advantage!
Also on board is Sybil Ruscoe, best known for being one of the members of Simon Mayo's Breakfast Crew on Radio 1 in the late 80s alongside newsreader now head of Newsbeat Rod McKenzie.
I can remember about three years ago when she had an overnight weekend slot on
Radio 2 which I tended to wake up to during the middle of many nights, and she used to have a competion called "Ruscoe's Race" if I remember correctly.
I'm not sure if it's a good or bad thing that broadcasters of this sort haven't been given heavy exposure on national radio. As long as they keep their feet on the ground then I'm happy.
