Improved Fantasy

Earlier today I listened to David Mitchell guesting on Desert Island Discs where his chosen records were an interesting and varied selection including Herb Alpert's "Spanish Flea" which he described as a tune to go mad to whilst on the island.

In a silly manner of course, not of a mentally ill disorder.

Others included "Mmm Mmm Mmm" by the Crash Test Dummies reminding him of starting University, "Creep" by Radiohead which was ever appropriate and could be my song actually, and "Rainbow Connection" as sung by Kermit The Frog in "The Muppet Movie".

It was interesting when presenter Kirsty Young asked questions about comedy partner Robert Webb becoming a Dad and whether it would see any changes to their relationship as an act, to which David said it would but they could deal with it in a sensible manner and Robert could balance his family life with performing alongside David.

I should also mention last night's Mock The Week which for me has to be the funniest so far in the series.

The guests weren't too bad, mainly because of the noticeable difference in height between them, with the rather tiny but sweet Lucy Porter, and Greg Davies who's 6 ft 8 in comparison.

As always it was the final round which had me laughing the most where the first topic was "Deleted Lines From A Fantasy Film".

My favourite had to be Frankie Boyle's "Ron had swine flu and people were avoiding him. Luckily he was ginger so he was used to it".

However another one which was just as hilarious was Greg Davies' one near the end which I won't give away but is easily accessible on iPlayer, Youtube etc.

I'm getting used to Frankie having a beard although I've also noticed that Dara has started wearing a tie which I'm not too sure about as it doesn't really fit in with the casual manner of the programme, as despite being the host, Dara's just as an active contributor in certain rounds of the show.

There's not a great deal worth viewing tonight as this week's 8OO10C is a compilation show, and Jonathan Ross's guests for the final show in the series don't look too exciting.

Mum's away tonight and Dad's still at WOMAD so I'll sort out my own cooking whilst listening to The Now Show on Radio 4.

Other than that I'll carry on with my "side projects".
