Stand-Up And Deliver (Usually Nonsense)

I've just finished watching Dara O'Briain's live stand up as shown on BBC 2 and it's more or less proof as to why he's better off as the host of Mock The Week as opposed to one of the panellists.

I don't really like anecdotal based comedy as much as straight jokes like
Jimmy Carr and Frankie Boyle although there were a few gags that made me laugh such as those who drive past famous people's houses, and Facebook being an "online butler".

On a similar note I discovered a new podcast from Frankie Boyle earlier today which is basically a recording of him trying out jokes to be used on Mock The Week in front of a small audience about two days before the recording.

It's worth listening to in terms of hearing jokes that won't get into the show although the audio quality itself is rather amateurish.

My favourite part has to be Frank's suggestions for the answers in the "If This Is The Answer, What Is The Question?" round which in the current podcast involves the ones around Michael Jackson's funeral.

One of them that didn't get on television involved the Pope with the answer being "50 million".

I'm not sure if I'll make a habit of listening throughout the series in case they spoil the jokes when done on television, although in the first podcast it only really covers stuff that was done in the first two shows.

Tomorrow will involve a visit to the Job Centre where many around me are hinting that things can only get worse, through their own personal experience, and after returning I'll make a start on my long wounded audio rummage, to help my write my "University biog" which will probably involve the closedown of Jazz FM in London and the launch of Smooth FM on the same frequency in June 2005, and some vintage Solar Radio recordings from the rest of the summer,
that could be what inspired me to have a go at doing something similar myself.

Hopefully in a lot less arrogant style than some of the presenters.

Good times, and Good Night.
