Push Off Potter

"Harry Potter Day" is all the rage at Radio 1 today although such mass hype events are easily avoidable via the Off button.

Chris Moyles had a few subtle hints with a special Tedious Link with Queen's "A Kind Of Magic" and Chris kept on taking the mickey out of the special voice used in the day's branding by putting on a deep voice and speaking over the intros of records in that manner.

It prompted me into making a few minor adjustments to the Bubblegum Top 10 feature I did for my final show back in May by putting a slightly different flange effect on Sophie's voice to make it sound less bubbly and more electronic.

The result can be heard here and here for both parts although it's barely any different at all and in the long term like most of the other things I've done will only entertain myself.

But then again I really like entertaining myself.

Stop iiit!

The rest of today, apart from making what I hope will be a delicious lamb stew with mushrooms, spuds and basmati rice will involve splitting the shows from last May into separate files and burning them onto a new disc.

I'm trying to avoid listening to the actual shows themselves, as I plan to listen back to almost everything going from 2005 onwards in order to help me write my reminisces of my time at Westminster and it really will be a roller-coaster journey.

Only I'm hoping that unlike 2007, this time round it won't spiral too far.

It's a bugger deciding when to go to Morrisons to buy the extra stuff needed for tonight. One minute it's pouring, the next it's rather bright. Quite likely to be the case for the rest of the summer.
